Work with me, and you will find neutrality and support for you both at a time of acute tension and often high emotion. I work with couples to enable relational understanding and communication, creating a calm reflective space where each of you has space to voice your concerns, needs and how you experience your relationship.

I work to notice and share the dynamics of your relationship, and then work with you to support changes, and different ways of understanding and being with one another. The cornerstone of this involves improving communication, so each can express themselves in a way that can be heard by the other person.

Frequently, couples counselling is not what people expect, and often presents an opportunity to heal long standing issues. Couples carve out a new way of connecting more clearly, respectfully and honestly with each other during sessions, developing the skills to continue this new way of relating way after our sessions together end.

Couple Counselling & Relationship Therapy

couples counselling

Couples often come to counselling to address a specific issue in their relationship such as:

  • Breaking the cycle of repetitive rows

  • Issues connected to life stage; from new parents to empty nesters

  • Tensions with wider family

  • Recovery from an affair

  • Issues around intimacy and desire discrepancy

I also support couples through the separation and divorce process, facilitating them to establish respectful, clear communication and closure.

Relationship therapy - Not just for ‘couples’…

Couple counselling can also help when something is going wrong in other important relationships such as with parent and adult child relationships, siblings or even friends. I have a particular interest in, and experience of, working with parents and adult children, especially mothers and their adult daughters, when life events, both expected and unexpected, can place a strain on an existing relationship. I help create space for understanding and the formation of new ways of relating to support a dynamic that adapts and grows with life’s challenges and changes.

I also train qualified counsellors and psychotherapists to work with couples, please visit training for more information.
